Shortly before my birthday festivities, mom noticed a nest of eggs under the deck.  Three birds hatched, and now they have all taken flight.  Any guesses as to what kind of birds they were?

This week I got to work with the graduate students at Emory.  All I got was this lousy T-shirt.

Editor's Note:  Gareth participated in a study that analyzes how babies respond to watching adults perform a task.  The researcher opened boxes and took out toys, then gave Gareth the "same" box (glued shut) to see how he would handle the situation.  In most cases he threw the box to the ground or opted to put it in his mouth.  He also laughed at the student when she tried to open a container and "couldn't" do it.
