Welcome to Tungston's Page

Greetings, friends.  My name is Tungston Zeus Bloemeke and I came to live with the elder Bloemekes in May of 1996.  I was a rough and tumble ole chap, but after a few "classes" with my new sponsors, I learned to be quite the first-rate, uh, cat.  I enjoy the new Bloemeke, meaning I allow him to "pet" me patiently.  However, my favorite activities include chasing and eating flies  (I cannot help my rather scruffy upbringing), getting brushed (if you "deign to comb the mane" I will indeed love you forever) and playing with certain amusements about the house.  My humans call them sparkly balls, but they are far more complex than the average toy.

History of my name:  Legend has it that on the way to meet me, Mark and Julie came up with the name Tungston because it reflects Julie's interest in photography and Mark's background with chemistry.  The spelling "-on" suggests my strong nature, and my middle name of Zeus simply reflects my utter superiority.

Here is a photo of me in my youth.  Note my anemic tail.  This is what a diet of ham, provided by a kindly southern gentleman, will do to you.  Thankfully, by this time, I had found the Bloemekes and my luck was about to change.
